(26-06-23) MOGADISHU — Chinese Ambassador Fei Shengchao attended the official opening of the newly renovated offices of the National Disability Agency (NDA) in Mogadishu. The refurbishment of these offices has been made possible with the support of China. During his visit, the ambassador, accompanied by NDA Somalia’s Chairman Mohamed Jama, toured the revamped offices. In his remarks at the ceremony, Ambassador Fei lauded the efforts of the Chinese government to safeguard the rights and interests of people with disabilities, not only within China but also in Somalia and other countries.
The ambassador expressed his admiration for the work conducted by NDA Somalia and reaffirmed China’s support for its ongoing efforts. He further emphasised China’s commitment to continue its collaboration with Somalia and international partners in facilitating the country’s peaceful reconstruction in political, economic, humanitarian, and social sectors.
In his concluding statements, the ambassador noted his delight at observing the changes in the NDA offices since his last visit less than a year ago. “NDA now has a home serving Somalis with disabilities, and China is proud to be part of this,” he stated, underscoring the significant role China has played in this initiative.
