(13-09-23) MOGADISHU — Five soldiers were injured on Wednesday when Somali security forces intercepted a car filled with explosives in the Dayniile district of Mogadishu. The vehicle was detonated at a military checkpoint, also causing injuries to at least one civilian.
Ali Abdi Farah, a Dayniile district official, commended the army’s vigilance, stating, “The army was vigilant and succeeded in thwarting the attacker’s plans.”
Authorities confirmed that the car was driven by a suicide bomber with the intent of causing maximum damage within the area. Quick intervention by the army was instrumental in preventing further casualties.
The injured soldiers are currently receiving medical treatment, and the civilian caught up in the attack has been reported as stable. Investigations to identify any additional individuals or networks involved in orchestrating the attack are underway.
