(03-10-23) MOGADISHU — South West leader Abdiaziz Mohamed Laftagareen is set to visit Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug. Recently, this city served as a temporary state house for President Hasan Sheikh Mohamud due to the ongoing conflict with Al-Shabaab. The primary focus of Laftagareen’s discussions with President Mohamud will be on the war against Al-Shabaab and the South West presidential elections.
This visit reportedly comes after an invitation extended by President Mohamud, who previously welcomed members of the South West opposition groups in Baidoa. These opposition members are advocating for the prompt conduct of the South West elections.
After his meeting with President Mohamud, the South West leader is also scheduled to meet his Galmudug counterpart, Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor. The two leaders aim to strengthen ties between their respective federal member states, especially as both regions are gearing up for upcoming elections.
