(15-10-23) MOGADISHU — Ibrahim Robow Ali, the younger brother of Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali (Abu Mansoor), Somalia’s Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, has been arrested in Mogadishu on Saturday evening, according to reliable sources who spoke to Halqabsi News.
Ali was detained overnight at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). While official reasons for his arrest are yet to be disclosed, insiders have hinted at an ongoing investigation into the operations of this year’s Hajj services.
Ali was the committee secretary responsible for overseeing Hajj affairs, a committee appointed by his brother, Minister Mukhtar Robow Ali. Reports indicate that the federal government has recently intensified its scrutiny of the Hajj Affairs Committee, which includes influential members like the minister himself.
Notably, Ali was also reappointed as the secretary of a new committee for Hajj affairs formed just four days prior to his arrest. He is reported to be facing serious but as-yet-unspecified charges.
In the absence of official statements from security services or the prosecution, speculation continues to swirl about Ali’s charges.
