(15-10-23) GALKACYO — Colonel Abdullahi Mohamed Musa Kayse, the Prosecutor of the Military Court of the 21st Division, led an official visit to the frontlines in the Wisil district to boost troop morale amid ongoing operations against extremist groups on Sunday.
Accompanied by Sheikh Abdullahi Ali Haile, Chairman of the Wisil District Court, and other officials, Kayse visited troops preparing for a high-stakes operation against Al-Shabaab extremist group. The group has been hiding in southern areas of the Mudug region.
During the visit, Kayse and accompanying officials urged the soldiers to diligently protect national property and prepare for the forthcoming operations. “We are duty-bound to safeguard our nation’s integrity and bring an end to extremist activities in this region,” Kayse said.
On Saturday, the 9th and 10th units embarked from the capital, Mogadishu, travelling over 700 kilometres through various central regions to reach Wisil. The two contingents of the 18th battalion of Somalia’s GorGor elite army arrived in the Mudug region, pledging to intensify the offensive against Al-Shabaab militants.
The Somali National Army, in collaboration with the Galmudug Deravishes and local forces, are currently involved in anti-Al-Shabaab operations in Galmudug state. The operations aim to halt the extremist group’s brutal activities in the region and restore peace.
