(20-10-23) DHUSAMAREB — Local military forces in Gadoon, a village approximately 40 km east of Dhusamareb in the Galgaduud region, captured a lorry carrying vital supplies to Al-Shabaab on Friday. Eyewitnesses told Halqabsi News that the seizure occurred just outside Gadoon after the army received intelligence about a covert operation involving the Al-Shabaab group.
Upon discovery, Al-Shabaab militants launched an attack in an attempt to reclaim their intercepted supplies. However, they were repelled by the local army, with at least three Al-Shabaab members confirmed dead, according to Mawisley office Jama Ali who spoke to Halqabsi News. The remaining Al-Shabaab militants fled the scene.
The vehicle, initially captured in the village of Docoley between Gadoon and the Hiindere area, was ultimately relocated to a military base in Gadoon. The supplies included fuel, military equipment, and food, critical to Al-Shabaab’s operations in the region.
According to local authorities, the Al-Shabaab faction targeted in this operation is isolated in the southern parts of Mudug and eastern areas of Galgaduud. Heavy fighting is ongoing between Al-Shabaab and a coalition of local and national security forces. Officials say plans are in place to eradicate the Al-Shabaab presence from these regions in the coming days.
