(13-12-23) MOGADISHU (HN) —The Second Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, Sen. Abdullahi Ali Hirsi (Timo-Adde), inaugurated the fourth annual Women Parliamentarians’ Conference today in Mogadishu.
Organised by female members from both chambers of the 11th Parliament, the conference saw participation from women representatives of state parliaments, various women’s organisations, and other esteemed guests. The focal point of this year’s conference is the empowerment of women and the realisation of their political rights within the nation.
Opening the conference, Deputy Speaker Sen. Timo-Adde highlighted that women constitute a crucial pillar and an essential foundation for the sustenance of families and the nation at large. He commended the important role played by women in the nation’s rebuilding efforts and pledged his commitment to enhancing their political engagement, thereby ensuring the fulfilment of their constitutional rights.
