(19-12-23) GAROWE (Halqabsi News) — The leadership of Puntland, including President Said Abdullahi Deni, Vice President Ahmed Karaash, and Parliament Speaker Abdirashid Abwan, have reached a consensus on the electoral process for 2024.
According to a statement from the Puntland Presidency, the three officials have resolved their previous disagreements over the upcoming elections. The agreement stipulates that the recently formed Puntland Election Dispute Resolution Committee will proceed with its responsibilities without interference.
Furthermore, the leaders concurred that the formation of the forthcoming sixth Parliament of Puntland will adhere to the procedures that were in place for the fifth Parliament, which concludes its term on 31 December 2023. The agreement signifies a critical step towards ensuring that the elections in the region proceed smoothly, ending prior contention amongst the top Puntland officials regarding the electoral process.
