(23-01-24) KISMAYO (Halqabsi News) — The Jubaland Ministry of Security has issued a directive prohibiting the discharge of firearms within Kismayo. This comes in response to a rise in the practice of celebratory gunfire during significant events impacting the region or the nation. According to the directive, individuals found discharging firearms will be brought to justice. Security officials are instructed to monitor the ammunition in soldiers’ magazines closely to ensure no bullets are fired without proper cause.
Additionally, the directive enforced a ban on the sale and purchase of weapons and ammunition, with violators facing legal consequences. The announcement also highlighted the issue of bandits who have been robbing Kismayo residents using counterfeit and makeshift guns, declaring that those engaged in such activities will be prosecuted.
Lastly, the directive cautioned against the establishment of joints selling illegal drugs, including operations within homes and public areas, warning that those involved in such illicit trade would also be subject to legal action.
