(01-03-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Somali National Army, backed by international partners, launched an operation against Al-Shabaab militants in the Ali Yabal village of the El Dher district and other parts of the Galgaduud region, officials said Friday.
Acting on intelligence reports, the army commandos conducted targeted strikes against several Al-Shabaab gatherings, resulting in the death of numerous militants, including leaders. The military operation led to the recapture of areas previously under the control of the extremist group, and the destruction of their operational bases.
“The operation was a significant blow to Al-Shabaab, disrupting their activities in the Galgaduud region,” said a military spokesperson. “Our forces have taken full control of the areas, ensuring the safety and security of the local population.”
The Somali National Army, with the support of international allies, has intensified its campaign against the terrorist group, aiming to eradicate their presence and restore peace in the region.
