(01 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The Governor of the Banadir Regional Administration, who also serves as the Mayor of Mogadishu, made an evening visit to Bakara Market—Mogadishu’s largest commercial hub—to oversee the recent security enhancements and the bustling business activities during the nighttime.
Flanked by the Howlwadaag District Commissioner and security personnel, Mayor Yussuf Hussein Jimale Madale engaged with the market’s business proprietors and patrons, primarily discussing the market’s security improvements and its commercial activities.
Mr Madale called on both shoppers and store owners to work in tandem with the security forces, who are actively working to enhance the safety of the market, thus ensuring that Mogadishu residents can conduct their business in a tranquil environment. The Mayor’s inspection coincided with a spike in market activities, as the community prepares for the conclusion of Ramadan and the forthcoming Eidul Fitr celebrations, turning the market into a hive of activity.
The Mogadishu administration has recently intensified the market’s security measures, including the installation of surveillance cameras to thwart criminal activities, which has led to a notable reduction in acts of insecurity within the market.
