(01 April 2024) DHUSAMAREB (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is set to travel today to Galmudug, accompanied by the region’s leader, Ahmed Abdi Kariye ‘Qoorqoor’. The president’s itinerary includes stops at the coastal town of Harardheere and the town of El Dheer.
The president’s journey is propelled by a commitment to intensify the offensive against the militant group Al-Shabaab in the region, including strategic meetings with Somali National Army forces on the frontlines.
Harardheere has notably withstood Al-Shabaab’s aggression, successfully thwarting a recent attack by the militant group. Since its liberation a year ago, the town has seen the return of normalcy with the resumption of daily life and educational activities.
President Mohamud’s trip seeks to bolster the anti-Al-Shabaab campaign that has achieved significant victories, substantially weakening the militant group.
