(22 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) has extended its congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the Puntland Media Association (MAP) following the leadership election in Garowe. In a tweet, UNSOM expressed its support for the newly elected Chair, Aynsane Mohamed and Deputy Chair, Mohamed Dek Abdalla.
The UN highlighted its anticipation to continue partnering with the Puntland Media Guild, emphasising its commitment to supporting the development of the local media sector in the region. The elections mark a key moment for MAP as it seeks to enhance media operations and uphold journalistic standards in Puntland.
The partnership underscores the UN’s ongoing efforts to foster media development and freedom of expression as important components of democratic governance in Somalia.
