(04-06-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – In a planned operation today, Somali Danab special forces eliminated a high-ranking Al-Shabaab leader in the Lower Jubba region. The raid, which took place in Kamjiroon, approximately 75 kilometres west of Kismayo, targeted an individual responsible for intelligence gathering and overseeing the collection of extortion funds for the militant group.
While the official’s identity remains undisclosed, the Somali federal government confirmed their significance within Al-Shabaab’s intelligence network. This operation further underscores the ongoing commitment of Danab forces to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s leadership and disrupt their activities.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized, “The Danab Special Forces are relentless in their pursuit of Al-Shabaab leadership, working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of Somali citizens.”
Al-Shabaab has not yet issued a response to the Somali National Army’s claims. The Jubba regions has increasingly become a focal point for targeted raids and airstrikes aimed at weakening the militant group’s presence and influence.
