(05-06-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Somali National Army, in a targeted operation in the Lower Shabelle region, struck several boats used by Al-Shabaab to transport explosives and fighters. The operation, conducted by the 66th and 83rd Brigades of the 14th October Brigade, focused on disrupting the militant group’s logistical capabilities in the strategically important areas surrounding Janale.
The destroyed boats were reportedly used to ferry explosives and personnel across the river, facilitating attacks in the area. This tactical strike will hinder Al-Shabaab’s ability to launch attacks and resupply their forces.
Col. Ahmed Abdullahi, speaking on the operation, stated, “The destruction of these boats marks a setback for Al-Shabaab and demonstrates our forces’ commitment to ending the threat they pose to our security.”
The SNA has vowed to continue its offensive against Al-Shabaab, aiming to dismantle their networks and establish full government control in these areas. The operation not only cripples a vital logistical route for the militants but also bolsters the security and safety of local communities, reducing the frequency and efficacy of Al-Shabaab attacks.
