(24-06-24) JOWHAR (Halqabsi News) – At least five people have been killed and eight others injured after a public bus struck a landmine in Middle Shabelle region. The explosion, believed to have been caused by a device planted by the militant group Al-Shabaab, occurred as the bus was travelling towards Mogadishu.
Bal’ad District Commissioner, Qassim Ali Nur, confirmed the casualties and condemned the indiscriminate targeting of civilians. “All the victims were civilians from the farms heading to Mogadishu. The Al-Shabaab terrorists do not discriminate between civilians and the army, hence their brutality against the affected civilians,” he said.
This incident is the latest in a series of landmine attacks in the Middle Shabelle region, stressing the ongoing security threat posed by Al-Shabaab. The group has frequently used such tactics to target both civilians and security forces.
