(03-07-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Somali Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy announced the commencement of Somalia’s first National Week of Fisheries Development. The week-long event, running from 3-9 July under the slogan “Sustaining Livelihoods, Preserving Ecosystems,” emphasises the government’s commitment to empowering local fishermen and implementing effective opportunities that can contribute to the growth and development of the country’s economy.
The National Fisheries Week in Somalia officially commenced today. Supported by USAID and other international partners including UNDP, UK International Development, and FAO, the event aims to spotlight and foster sustainable practices within the fisheries sector, ensuring both the livelihood of communities and the preservation of marine ecosystems.
