(24-07-2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with Jubaland Darwish forces, dealt a significant blow to Al-Shabaab militants in the Lower Jubba region today in a major military operation.
The Ministry of Defence reported that more than 80 militants were killed in three coordinated attacks west and south of Kismayo. The operations in Harbole, Mido, and Bulo Haji resulted in the seizure of a substantial cache of weapons.
“These successful operations dealt a major blow to Al-Shabaab’s capabilities in the region,” the Ministry stated, commending the courage and dedication of the SNA and Jubaland forces.
Al-Shabaab, in a counter-statement, claimed responsibility for three attacks in the same areas, alleging to have killed 71 soldiers. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
Images purportedly showing deceased Al-Shabaab militants and weapons seized by government forces are circulating on social media.
The Ministry of Defence vowed to continue pursuing the remaining Al-Shabaab escapees and reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the threat of terrorism in Somalia.
