(04 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – On Sunday, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre announced the appointment of Mohamed Issack Ibrahim ‘Fatir’ as Somalia’s Secretary General to the East African Community (EAC). The announcement was made through a brief statement on the Prime Minister’s social media channels, with the tweet noting Fatir’s new role but providing no additional information on his background.
Somalia’s accession to the EAC was completed in March this year, following its admission to the bloc in November of the previous year. The move positioned Somalia as the eighth member of the East African Community.
