(07 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Somalia’s House of the People passed the Labour Bill during a parliamentary session on Wednesday morning. The bill, which was put to a vote, was approved by 138 Members of Parliament, with four opposing it and one abstaining. The Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur ‘Sheikh Adan Madobe’, who chaired the session, announced that the bill passed by the members of the House of the People is now valid legislation.
The approval of this law marks a significant step towards enhancing workers’ rights and improving labour standards in Somalia. It is expected to provide a more structured framework for employment, addressing issues such as fair wages, working conditions, and dispute resolution.
