(12 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Somali Police Force has issued a new directive targeting vehicle owners and drivers in Mogadishu, enforcing stricter regulations to ensure compliance with road safety, registration laws and security. According to the statement, all vehicles must have valid license plates, registration documents, and driver’s licenses. The police emphasised that vehicles with mismatched registration details would face penalties, and new auto-rickshaws would no longer be allowed for import or registration within the city.
In addition, the police warned against transferring registration information from one rickshaw to another, stating that such practices would not be tolerated. The directive also restricts the entry of three-wheeled small vehicles from rural areas into Mogadishu, reinforcing the city’s traffic control measures. The Somali Police Force has cautioned that those who fail to adhere to these orders will be subjected to strict legal actions.
