Yabooh recounted how he personally apprehended two men on a motorcycle who were allegedly photographing a government centre in the capital. The men were reportedly taking pictures of the camp’s wall when Yabooh intervened and confiscated their phones.
“As I was walking somewhere, I came behind two men on two motorcycles who were taking pictures of a wall,” Yabooh explained. “We stopped their phones and what was taken from them was looked at what they were taking pictures of.”
Upon examination of the phones, Yabooh said images of soldiers, military uniforms, and pistols were discovered. The men were subsequently handed over to security agencies for further investigation.
Yabooh emphasized the need for vigilance and questioning suspicious behaviour: “A person who is present should be asked what he was doing?”
This incident comes amidst ongoing security operations in Mogadishu aimed at countering threats posed by Al-Shabaab.
