(01 NOV 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Commissioner of the Somali Police Force, General Asad Osman Abdullahi, has officially launched the construction of a police academy dedicated to training the Galeyr Counter-Terrorism Force. In a ceremony on Thursday, General Abdullahi laid the foundation stone for the facility, which aims to strengthen the Somali Police’s specialised counter-terrorism capabilities.
The new academy will serve as a training ground for elite police units equipped to handle high-stakes operations, marking a significant step in enhancing the police force’s ability to combat terrorism and ensure public safety.
With the support of the US government, this initiative reflects a broader transformation under the leadership of General Abdullahi to modernise the Somali Police Force and reinforce its operational effectiveness across departments.
