The Acting President of Somalia and Speaker of the House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), has met the British Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis, in Mogadishu. They discussed enhancing the relationship between Somalia and the United Kingdom.
Ambassador Nithavrianakis expressed his satisfaction with the strong ties between the two nations, praising Somalia’s parliament for passing critical laws and the national budget for 2025. He reiterated the UK’s support for Somalia’s democratic vision, particularly the push towards one-person, one-vote elections.
Sheikh Adan Madobe acknowledged the UK’s multifaceted assistance and highlighted Somalia’s progress in political, security, and economic spheres, along with ongoing efforts to combat extremism. The meeting underscored shared commitments to stability and development in the region.
