(13 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Hormuud Salaam Foundation (HSF), a non-profit organisation run by Hormuud and Salaam Somali Bank, announced a major commitment to aid Somalia’s displaced communities at the High-Level Forum on Somalia’s National Solutions Pathways in Geneva, Switzerland. The foundation’s CEO, Abdullahi Noor Osman, revealed plans to donate land near Mogadishu to resettle 10,000 families affected by climate-induced displacement and to provide them with a stable base to rebuild their lives.
As one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable countries, Somalia has seen thousands displaced by droughts and floods, many seeking new beginnings in urban areas. The forum, jointly organised by the United Nations and the federal government of Somalia focused on sustainable solutions for the displaced populations. Hormuud Salaam Foundation’s participation underscores its dedication to supporting and uplifting Somalia’s communities in need.
