(24 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — General Adan Abdi Hashi, Commander of the Puntland Defence Forces, declared a state of readiness and issued a war alert during a Saturday visit to the Galgala mountains, an undisclosed location within the Golis range.
Accompanied by Lt Col Barkhad Abdullahi Yusuf, Commander of the 7th Division of the Eastern Region, and other officials, General Hashi made an unannounced inspection of strategic positions, including Sugurre and Balli-khadar, key locations under Puntland’s military control.
During the visit, the commander received detailed reports from officers stationed in the mountainous areas, who highlighted ongoing security challenges in the region.
In a statement, the Puntland Defence Forces Command directed all units to prepare for an imminent operation to dismantle terrorist elements entrenched in the area.
“The commander has instructed all the defence forces to prepare for an army operation to eradicate the terrorists hiding in some of Puntland’s mountainous areas. This plan is now a priority for the Puntland government,” the statement read.
