(17-Feb-23) Mogadishu, Somalia – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia has called for unity in Sool, an eastern region of the country that has been the source of long-standing tension and conflict.
In Friday’s sermon, President Mohamud urged the government of Somaliland to listen to the wishes of the people of Sool and work towards unity. He stressed the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment and avoiding hostility towards others, even those with different views.
“We cannot be hostile to people, just as we are not hostile to you with the idea of separatism,” the President said. “And the brother who wants unity, I tell him that we want unity in peace.”
