(01-Mar-23) Mogadishu, Somalia – Al-Shabaab, the Islamist extremist group, has claimed responsibility for two deadly attacks that occurred in the neighborhoods of Yaqshid and Heliwaa districts of Mogadishu on Tuesday night. The attacks resulted in the deaths of approximately 10 people, including drug dealers, bandits, and gangs who were said to be attacking the city.
According to the group, the first attack targeted a location in the Ali Turcaye neighborhood of Heliwaa district where narcotics were being sold. Al-Shabaab claimed to have killed four people who they said were bandits, Iyaal Wero, and drug dealers.
The second attack took place in the Godey neighborhood of Yaqshid district, where the group claimed responsibility for killing three individuals who they identified as the children of attackers and bandits involved in robbing people.
These attacks are just the latest in a series of violent incidents in Mogadishu, and they serve as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the government in maintaining stability and security in Mogadishu.
