(22-03-23) Mogadishu – As the Muslim world welcomes the holy month of Ramadan, leaders in Somalia have shared messages of peace, unity, and compassion with their fellow citizens.

Former president of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, also known as “Farmaajo,” took to Twitter to share his Ramadan Kareem message. In his message, he called on all Somalis to use the holy month as an opportunity to reflect on their lives, seek forgiveness for their sins, and extend a helping hand to those in need.

“Ramadan is a time for us to strengthen our faith, to renew our commitment to our values, and to show kindness and compassion to those around us,” Farmaajo said. “I pray that this Ramadan brings peace and prosperity to our beloved Somalia.”

The current president of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, also shared a similar message on his official social media accounts. In his message, he urged Somalis to use the month of Ramadan as a time to unite and work towards a better future for their country.

“Ramadan is a time for us to come together as a community, to share our blessings, and to support one another,” Mohamud said. “Let us use this holy month to build a stronger Somalia that is united, peaceful, and prosperous.”

The messages from the former and current presidents come as Somalis around the world begin to observe the month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. Ramadan is one of the holiest months in the Islamic calendar and is observed by millions of Muslims worldwide.

Despite the challenges faced by Somalia, including ongoing conflict and political instability, the messages of hope and unity from the country’s leaders are a reminder of the resilience and strength of the Somali people.

As Ramadan begins, Somalis are looking forward to a month of spiritual reflection, community, and charity. The holy month provides an opportunity for Somalis to come together and support one another, deepen their faith, and work towards a better future for their country.

Ramadan Kareem to all Somalis and Muslims around the world.
