(15-03-23) LasAnadod – Efforts to bring peace to the ongoing conflict in Lasanood, the capital of the Sool region, have reportedly failed. According to sources, the two sides involved in the conflict have strict conditions attached to the resolution of the war. The Ethiopian government’s efforts to initiate face-to-face talks have not yielded any results.
The traditional leaders have replied to a letter from Addis Ababa, stating that President Bihi has set some conditions for withdrawing his troops and initiating talks. They have also asserted that the area in question belongs to Somaliland, and any resolution of the issue should come from within Somaliland. However, the traditional leaders of the SSC have disagreed with this claim, stating that the area does not belong to Somaliland and that no one has ownership over their lands.
The Ethiopian government has been making efforts to broker peace talks between the two sides but without success. It is hoped that the conflict will be resolved soon to avoid further loss of life and property damage. However, the conditions set by the parties involved are making it difficult for any progress to be made.
