(01-04-23) Mogadishu– In a bid to foster unity and reconciliation amid ongoing fighting in Las Anod, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia has appointed Abdikarim Hussein Guled as the new envoy for Somaliland affairs. This move underscores the president’s commitment to ensuring the solidarity and unity of the Somali people, particularly in the northern regions of Somalia.
President Hassan Sheikh believes that the key to achieving lasting unity lies in open dialogue, shared advice, and listening to the concerns of the Somali people from all regions. Guled, with his vast experience in reconciliation, conflict resolution, and negotiation, is expected to play a crucial role in navigating the complex relationship between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland.
As a part of his immediate duties, Guled has been instructed to spearhead the initiation of talks between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland. The president has emphasized the importance of Guled’s leadership in finding solutions to the challenges facing the peace negotiations.
