(23-05-23) MOGADISHU – Former Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, commended the people and government of Puntland for their resolute stance on the implementation of Local Council elections due on Thursday, in a statement released on Tuesday.
President Farmaajo applauded the courage and determination of the Puntland people who stood up for their right to elect local leadership. The move signifies a transition towards a democratic system where people’s votes determine their leaders.
“Puntland’s readiness to adopt a direct election system serves as an example of the Somali people’s eagerness to elect their leaders with their votes. It is a testament to the democratic spirit that we have been tirelessly working to cultivate,” said President Farmaajo.
