(24-05-23) MOGADISHU – A delegation from the Ozil Harakat Special Police, an elite division of the Turkish Police Force, landed in Mogadishu on Wednesday for an official visit aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations’ law enforcement agencies.
The Somali Police Force’s Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Osman Abdullahi Mohamed (Kaniif), alongside other senior Somali officers, warmly welcomed the delegation at Adan Ade International Airport, reflecting the growing camaraderie between the Somali and Turkish Police Forces.
The principal objective of this visit is to strengthen and deepen cooperation between the Turkish Police Force and the Somali Haramcad Special Police, which is currently undergoing intensive training under the guidance of Turkish officials. This collaborative endeavour further underlines the increasing bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Turkey, especially in the security sector.
Comprising four high-ranking officers from the Ozel Harakat Army, the delegation is led by Commander Selami Türker, the head of Ozel Harekat. The other members include Ali Turedi, the Commander of Foreign Affairs; Turgay Olgun, the Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs; and Siddik Mustafa Ulger, an officer of Ozel Harekat.
During their stay in Mogadishu, the Turkish delegation will engage in a series of meetings, workshops, and training sessions aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the Somali Police Force and deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
This visit marks another significant milestone in the continually expanding relationship between Somalia and Turkey, particularly in terms of security cooperation, as both nations seek to address shared challenges in the realm of peace and security.
