(13-06-23) MOGADISHU — On Sunday, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC), Ambassador Souef Mohamed Elamine, and the newly appointed Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), Ambassador Catriona Laing, co-chaired a meeting with ATMIS Troop-Contributing Countries (TCCs) Ambassadors in Mogadishu.
According to Ambassador Elamine, the key talking points during the discussions were centred around introduction between the new UN Envoy and the Ambassadors as well as anticipated drawdown of ATMIS and the accompanying challenges and opportunities. The aim is to coordinate efforts to extend joint support to the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
The ambassadors reiterated their shared responsibility and pledge to maintain security and stability in Somalia. The event underscores the collective commitment of the TCCs, along with ATMIS Mission and the UN, to sustain their support for Somalia’s security and stability.
