(20-06-23) MOGADISHU — Jubaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islan, known as ‘Ahmed Madobe’, has addressed the current political spat in the Gedo region. In light of the current dispute, President Madobe has urged collaboration between the federal government, his own administration, and all pertinent parties to work towards resolving the conflict and improving both political and security stability in the region.
For the newly appointed regional administration to function effectively in Gedo, Madobe believes that reconciliation and dialogue must be fostered to quell the discord between the Gedo community and the Kismayo-based administration.
He sought to clarify that launching the second phase of the military operation against the terrorist group Al-Shabaab in the Gedo region requires a cohesive administration that can successfully collaborate with security forces to achieve the objective of liberating the region.
President Madobe made these remarks during his address at the National Stabilisation Coordination Conference in Kismayo. The event, organised by the Ministry of Interior and Relocation, also saw the attendance of interior ministers from various federal states.
