(02-06-23) MOGADISHU — Jubaland President, Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe, held a meeting on Thursday with leaders from SSC traditional council currently vising Mogadishu, seeking their insights on resolving long-standing issues plaguing the Sool region. President Madobe stressed the importance of their active participation in fostering peace, brotherhood, and stability in their local communities, underlining their vital role as cultural arbiters and peacemakers.
The gathering of cultural intellectuals expressed their gratitude to President Madobe for his initiative and cordial reception. They utilised the platform to share their perspectives on the prevailing situation in SSC, including the problems and life challenges faced by local people as a consequence of the protracted war in the region.
Accompanying President Madobe to this meeting were several key figures of the Somali government, including the Second Deputy Chairman of the Upper House, multiple Government Ministers, and Members of Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Their presence underscored the importance attributed to this dialogue and the national effort towards conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Further meetings are anticipated to continue the dialogue and foster stronger unity and cooperation.
