(26-06-23) MOGADISHU — The Chief of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Sulub Ahmed Firin, presided over a pivotal security meeting on Monday in anticipation of the forthcoming Eid and Independence Week celebrations. This high-level meeting saw the participation of top officers from the Somali Police Force, including the Deputy Commander of the Police Force, Chiefs of the Police and the country’s forces, the Commander of the General Division of the Somali Police Force, the Banadir regional police, the Deputy Security Commissioner of the Banadir region and leaders of the Nisa, military trained police, and other operations.

The meeting, convened at the command of the Somali Police Force, centred on enhancing the capital’s security and stability during this festive period, a time that typically sees a marked increase in social activity.

General Firin stressed the importance of ensuring peace and security, and protecting the safety of the public, particularly in light of the forthcoming Eid and Independence Week. He implored the gathered security chiefs and officers to expedite their security measures to ensure the community can safely partake in the festivities.

“The aim of our gathering is to brief our officers about our operations and speed up the process of security and stability, particularly during the days of Eid and Independence Week,” said Brigadier General Firin. “The safety and peace of our people are our primary concerns.”

While the festive week is one of celebration and unity, it’s also a period that demands increased vigilance. The Somali Police Force is keenly aware of its responsibility to protect citizens during this time and this meeting was an important step in setting the strategy for these significant events.
