(06-06-23) MOGADISHU — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre commenced a series of accountability meetings with his cabinet members on Monday, revisiting past commitments and assessing work performance within their respective domains. The inaugural session of this initiative engaged officials from the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
During this review, Health Ministry representatives outlined their accomplishments to the Prime Minister, as well as challenges they’ve faced, encompassing both political and technical issues. Prime Minister Hamza actively engaged in the proceedings, questioning the officials on their specific responsibilities.
He urged ministry officials to shun nepotism, corruption, and embezzlement, emphasising the importance of transparency and dedicated, honest service to the public. Specific attention was given to the improvement of health facilities within the country, including hospital construction, medication storage, and enhancing health awareness – all aligned with previous commitments made by health officials to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister concluded the session by reiterating the need to deliver work within agreed timeframes, underscoring the importance of meeting deadlines. According to the Office of the Prime Minnister, this initial review signifies the beginning of a comprehensive accountability process within Prime Minister Hamza’s cabinet.
