(05-07-23) MOGADISHU – In a recent meeting, officials from Somalia’s Office of National Security, led by the National Security Advisor, Hussein Moallin, and Senior Security Advisor to Prime Minister Kamal Gutale met with members of the US Congress, including Representative Ronny Jackson Representative Sara Jacobs, and Representative Beth Van Duyne.
During the meeting, Congress members were briefed on the current state of affairs in Somalia. The Somali security advisors emphasised the necessity of continued US government support for the stabilisation, counter-terrorism efforts, and comprehensive rebuilding of the Somali Security Forces.
In response to the detailed briefing, the congresspeople demonstrated appreciation for the comprehensive updates and reaffirmed their commitment to intensify US-Somalia relations. The commitment shows a continuing dedication on the part of the US to support stability and security development in the region, particularly within Somalia.
