(05-07-23) MOGADISHU – The Federal Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, on Wednesday presided over a technical joint meeting focused on the implementation of Somalia’s recently agreed-upon Electoral Model.
The model was agreed upon by the National Consultative Council (NCC) on May 28, 2023, but faces opposition from some of the country’s political stakeholders.
Representatives from the Office of the President and the Office of the Prime Minister were in attendance at the meeting. Also in the meeting were delegates from the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and the administrative offices of the National Independent Electoral Commission (NIEC) and the Boundary and Federalisation Commission (BFC).
