(11-07-23) MOGADISHU – An Embraer E120 aircraft operated by Halla Airlines, registered under the Somali Civil Aviation Authority with the code Six Oscar (6O-AAD), experienced a crash landing on Runway 05 of Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu on Tuesday. The Ministry of Transport and Aviation confirmed one injury amidst the incident.

According to the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, all 34 crew members and passengers on board survived the incident. Minister Fardowsa Osman Egal acknowledged the swift rescue operation and applauded the promptness of emergency services in providing immediate medical aid to the injured.
The cause of the crash is attributed to the malfunction of the front landing gear, as stated by Minister Egal to the State media. An investigation is underway to further explore the incident’s underlying reasons.
On a related note, a separate Halla Airlines flight, 6O-AAB, arrived safely earlier in the day carrying several former Somali Prime Ministers. These leaders, attending a pivotal meeting chaired by the President of the Republic tomorrow, were not affected by the unfortunate incident.
