(12-07-23) MOGADISHU – Abdulaqadir Mohemed Nur, Somalia’s Minister of Defence, on Tuesday, met with Major General Yousef Huneiti, Chairman of the Jordanian Armed Forces, in an effort to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. The meeting took place in Amman, where the two leaders discussed ideas for strengthening their respective nations’ defence systems.
Minister Abdiqulqadir was awarded with an honorary certificate as a token of respect during his visit to the Jordanian army headquarters. Additionally, the soldiers extended a salute as a gesture of respect and honour for the Minister’s attendance.
The officials also discussed the security collaboration between the two governments. Where they highlighted their shared interest in global and regional stability. Mr Abdulaqadir also mentioned that for many years, Somalia has faced long-standing battles against terrorists, affecting the security and stability of the country.
Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of Jordan’s assistance in fighting against terrorism and strengthening Somalia’s military capabilities. He also pointed out the importance of eliminating the Khawarij organisation’s presence, which poses a huge threat to the nation.
