(03-07-23) MOGADISHU – Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, the Somali Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, reported on Monday the completion of the Hajj by 11,650 Somali pilgrims. Tragically, four pilgrims died during the journey and three are missing. Medical assistance was provided to 60 pilgrims in cooperation with the Saudi government.
Sheikh Robow ordered the immediate return of the pilgrims post-Hajj and expressed gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre, for prioritising the welfare of the Somali pilgrims this year.
The Somali government is committed to ensuring the safe fulfilment of religious duties by its citizens abroad and the incident underscores a growing relationship with the Saudi government.
