(05/08/23) MOGADISHU – Dr. Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud, the General Director of Villa Somalia, has tendered his resignation. According to reliable and trusted sources, the resignation is believed to be a personal decision, fuelling speculations that he may be considering running for the presidency in the upcoming election for the state of Southwest.
Dr. Mahmoud was appointed by President Hassan Sheikh on May 23, 2022, and is known to be a close friend of the President. He played a pivotal role in the campaign of the current government.
Notably, his bid to continue as a senator in the Southwest state was previously denied by the current head of the state, Leftagreen.
The resignation of Dr. Husen Sheikh Mahmoud has added intrigue to the political landscape, with many now closely watching for his potential announcement to enter the race for the presidency in Southwest state.
