(26-09-23) DHUSAMAREB — A local military operation on the outskirts of Dhusamareb, Galgaduud, left three Al-Shabaab fighters dead and another in custody, according to military officials. The operation took place on Tuesday in the Bulacle area.
The insurgent group of eight fled to the Bulacle forest area when engaged by the army, who then recovered a FEKON motorcycle and at least one AK47 from the militants.
Dhusamareb Governor Macalin Abdirahman Geedaqorow led a delegation, including officers from the local army, NISA agency and the national force, to inspect the Bulacle area and review the situation.
Geedaqorow told media that soldiers involved would be rewarded and promoted on behalf of Galmudug State and the federal government. “The spoils of this operation will remain with the soldiers who earned them,” he said.
Calas Abdinur Barre, chairman of the Youth of Dhusamareb, commended the army’s actions but issued a warning against disrupting efforts to eradicate Al-Shabaab.
The Somali national army, alongside local fighters, has been waging a three-month-long offensive against Al-Shabaab in Galmudug and Hirshabelle, liberating areas previously under Al-Shabaab control.
