(20-09-23) MOGADISHU — The Minister of Security for Somalia’s Federal Government, Mohamed Ahmed Sheikh Ali Doodishe, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif, held a landmark meeting on Tuesday aimed at boosting anti-terror cooperation and fortifying bilateral security relations.
The top officials convened in Saudi Arabia’s capital city, Riyadh, to discuss strategies for deepening ties between Somalia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A specific focus was placed on advancing collective security measures and counter-terrorism operations.
“After a series of constructive dialogues, both nations are aligned on the urgent need to bolster security cooperation,” Minister Doodishe said in an official statement. The meeting laid the groundwork for future collaborations, signalling a strengthening of ties that could have broad regional implications.
Subsequent to the discussions, Minister Doodishe toured several institutions in Riyadh, including the University of Science and Security in Naif. His visit aimed to gain insights into Saudi Arabia’s research and strategies for countering extremism.
Both ministers agreed to maintain regular engagement in the coming months, with plans to develop a comprehensive action plan to specify joint initiatives and collaborative projects.
