(22-10-23) BAIDOA — Minister of Defence for the Federal Government of Somalia, Abduqadir Mohamed Nur, on Sunday conducted an inspection tour of military outposts in Huddur, the administrative capital of Bakool region. He was accompanied by the Minister of Security of the Southwest State and the Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces. Mr Nur lauded the armed forces for their valiant efforts in bolstering regional security.
During his address, Nur urged the forces to intensify their campaign against the extremist group known as Al-Shabaab. “We are at war against the enemy, Al-Shabaab, and they must be filtered out of the country,” Nur affirmed.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the security landscape maintained by the armed forces in Huddur and various other locations throughout the Bakool region. He revealed that the forces are now gearing up for the second phase of their campaign, aimed at eradicating elements of Al-Shabaab that continue to disrupt peace and development in the area.
The ministerial tour and subsequent declarations are perceived as part of the government’s strategic initiatives to curb extremism and engender regional stability. This provides renewed hope for residents in their ongoing quest for peace and development.
