(16/11/23) MOGADISHU – An airstrike was conducted on Thursday in the Lower Shabelle region’s Haway village, a significant development in the conflict against Al-Shabaab. This precise military action targeted key figures within the Al-Shabaab militant group.
Among the targets was a high-ranking officer known as Mu’ad, believed to hold substantial authority within the group. Mu’ad reportedly oversees a faction of Al-Shabaab rebels. The impact of the airstrike on Mu’ad and his associates, however, remains unconfirmed as of now.
Reliable sources, including local military observers, have confirmed that the airstrike inflicted considerable losses on Al-Shabaab. The exact number of casualties is still being assessed. This operation is seen as part of a broader strategy to disrupt the operational capabilities of Al-Shabaab, a group implicated in numerous terrorist activities and insurgencies within Hirshabelle State and the broader Somalia.
