(02/11/23) MOGADISHU — An explosion caused by a mine in a commercial area at the Zoobe intersection in Mogadishu injured one woman and led to the arrest of several suspects on Thursday morning, according to eyewitnesses and reports from Police officers.
Security forces quickly arrived at the scene to conduct an initial investigation and apprehend individuals for further questioning. As of now, no details have been provided by the security agencies about the nature of the explosion or the ongoing operations.
The injured woman was immediately rushed to a local hospital in Mogadishu, and her condition remains unknown.
The area around the Zoobe intersection, which was temporarily disrupted by the blast, has returned to normalcy, with traffic and commercial activities resuming as usual. This quick return to stability highlights the resilience of the local community and the swift response of the security forces.
This incident is the latest in a series of mine explosions in Mogadishu. Just yesterday, security forces successfully thwarted a mine explosion in the Dayniile district of the Banadir region. Despite this, the Zoobe intersection explosion serves as a reminder of the persistent threats in the city, recalling the tragic events of October last year that resulted in numerous casualties.
