(01/11/23) MOGADISHU — Finance Minister of Somalia, Bihi Egeh, officially inaugurated the Somalia Enhancing Public Resource Management Project (SERP) on Wednesday. Funded by the World Bank, the project aims to reform various aspects of both federal and regional governmental operations.
During the opening ceremony, Minister Egeh emphasised the project’s significance in providing technical support to regional governments, federal agencies, and other sectors within the Somali governance structure. “The SERP project has undergone multiple stages and finally sees its inauguration today,” he stated.
Egeh outlined the project’s focus areas, including the reform of government employment procedures, the bolstering of good governance, and enhancing the efficiency and transparency of government agencies.
Speaking on behalf of Federal Member States ministers, Finance Minister of Galmudug State, Farhan Ali Mohamud, warmly welcomed the initiative. “SERP has the potential to significantly uplift the functioning of regional governments across the country,” Mohamud noted. With the backing of the World Bank, the SERP project promises to be a key enabler in Somalia’s journey towards stable and effective governance.
